Bomco Promotes Tucker and Francis to
New Management Positions

Bomco’s President Mike McCarthy has announced promotion of Maynard Tucker the position of Manufacturing Manager and the promotion Trina Francis to the position Purchasing Agent. In making these promotions, McCarthy commented, “our goal is improve our daily operations promoting qualified people, giving them the tools they and by giving them full support.” In addition, McCarthy pointed out that the new managers, as well as all existing managers, have clear lines of responsibility, clearly defined objectives and the independence to effectively manage their own operations.
Newly promoted Maynard Tucker, for example, is now responsible for all manufacturing operations in both of the manufacturing facilities in Gloucester. The supervisors of all manufacturing sections report directly to Tucker who has the overall responsibility for all production and scheduling.
Most importantly, Tucker is also responsible for improving the productivity of manufacturing by expanding and developing forming, welding and machining capabilities.
Trina Francis, newly promoted to the position of Purchasing Agent, is now responsible for the placement of all outside processing orders as well as for the purchase of all goods and services.
The promotion of Tucker and Francis, as well as the new management alignment, are already paying dividends. Manufacturing operations are more effectively scheduled, and shipments are more evenly distributed during the month. Orders for outside processing operations are now prepared at the end of the day and are ready for assignment to vendors at the start of the next day, thus saving valuable manufacturing time. Both of these factors are working well for Bomco and it’s customers.

Special Thanks to Joe Cordaro

With the retirement of Bomco’s Plant Manager, Joe Cordaro, friends and co-workers thank him for his unfailing friendship and service in a 41 year career that “spanned the years” from Bomco’s early development with 7 or 8 people in the sixties to the development of aerospace business with almost one hundred people today. Throughout his career, there was a common thread that derived from his school credo… to respect yourself and others… to be industrious, persevering, honest, faithful and loyal… These characteristics served Bomco well and guided Joe as he did much of the hiring from the early days to the present. They were also present as he taught scissors spinning, (a double lever system) became a supervisor, then production manager and finally plant manager. And these guiding principles are present today as Joe looks to the future: “we have hired well, trained well, our company is in good hands and our younger people will take us to the next level.” Thanks in large part, to Joe Cordaro. Our thanks and best wishes to Joe for a full and satisfying retirement with family, volunteer work, striper fishing, cross country skiing and extended stays on Cape Cod and North Conway.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT
High Level Assemblies

This jet engine starter manifold is a typical example of Bomco’s expanded capability to produce complex, higher level assemblies and sub-assemblies.

In order to meet the increasing demands for complex, higher level assemblies and sub-assemblies, particularly in the aerospace industry, Bomco has expanded its precision metal forming capabilities. The jet engine starter manifold shown here is an excellent example of this expanded capability. The manufacturing process for this stainless steel welded assembly includes hydroforming, with intricately formed ribs, laser machining, Tig welding, florescent penetrant inspection (FPI), pressure testing, surface finishing by glass bead blasting, passivation and special laser marking. While the size of this stainless steel manifold is 5.0 in. diameter, 4.5 in. high with a thickness of .032 in, Bomco manufactures high level assemblies up to 72 in. diameter. Bomco welcomes the opportunity to assist all customers, commercial and aerospace alike, in the development and production of similar assemblies for demanding applications.
